This version replaces all previous cookie policies published on this site.
This policy explains what cookies quizcodes.com uses, what each one does, and how you control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. It lets the site recognize your browser on a later visit — to keep you logged in, remember a preference, or count a visit.
This policy also covers similar technologies that work the same way: local storage, session storage, pixels and tracking scripts. Where we say "cookie", we mean all of these.
Your consent, and how to change it
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, reject all non-essential ones, or choose category by category. Rejecting costs you nothing except the ability to log in, which requires the strictly necessary cookies.
You can change your mind at any time through the Cookie preferences control on the site, or by clearing cookies in your browser. A change takes effect immediately for future collection.
One exception, stated plainly. Our banner and our Google Ads tag are separate systems that do not communicate. The Google Ads tag described in Section 05 therefore loads with the page, before you interact with the banner, and it sets its own cookie at that point. Rejecting cookies in the banner stops the categories the banner controls; it does not retroactively remove that one.
To block it, use the controls in Section 08 — your browser's cookie settings, or Google's own opt-out at adssettings.google.com. We would rather tell you this than describe a mechanism that does not work the way it sounds.
Strictly necessary cookies
These make the site function. They cannot be switched off.

Analytics cookies
These tell us which pages are used and where people get stuck, in aggregate. They are set only with your consent.

We do not use analytics to identify you personally, and we do not combine analytics data with your account to build a profile of you.
Marketing and advertising cookies
These let us measure whether an ad led to an enrolment, and support advertising to people who visited without enrolling.
The Google Ads tag below is the exception to our banner. As explained in Section 02, it loads with the page rather than waiting for your choice. The others in this table are not in use; if we switch one on, it will be gated by the banner, and this table will say so before it goes live.
We have deliberately limited what this tag does. Google's user-provided data feature — which scans pages for email addresses, phone numbers and names and sends them to Google — is turned off on our account. The tag records a cookie identifier and the fact that a visit followed an ad. It does not send us or Google the personal information you type into our forms.

When we switch a tracker on, this table is updated before the tag goes live, and the effective date at the top of this page changes. A tracker that is not listed here is not running on this site.
Embedded third-party content
Some course material is hosted or embedded from other services. When you interact with it, that service may set its own cookies under its own policy, which we do not control.

How long cookies last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Most of the strictly necessary ones work this way.
Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them. Your cookie choices are remembered for up to 12 months; analytics cookies typically last up to 14 months, matching the retention period in Section 09 of our Privacy Policy.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings → Privacy. You can block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or clear what is already stored.
Blocking all cookies will prevent you from logging in and from using any course you have paid for. Blocking third-party cookies only will not.
Private or incognito browsing discards cookies when you close the window, but does not stop them being set during the session.
For the Google Ads tag specifically, you can opt out of personalized advertising directly with Google at adssettings.google.com, or block third-party cookies in your browser. Either works regardless of what you chose in our banner.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
There is no common standard for how sites should respond to a browser's Do Not Track signal, and we do not currently respond to it. Use the cookie banner or the Cookie preferences control instead — those we do honour.
Cookies and data outside Canada
The services listed above operate outside Quebec and outside Canada, principally in the European Union and the United States. Information collected through their cookies is stored and processed there, as described in Section 08 of our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy whenever we add or remove a cookie. The tables above are the authoritative list. Check the effective date at the top to see when it last changed.
