Terms and Conditions of Use
QuizCodes.com · Version 1.3 · In effect: 10 August 2026 · Person responsible: Serge Williams
This version replaces all previous terms published on this site.
QuizCodes.com is a private, independent study platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, accredited by or recognized by the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA), Tarion, the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Skilled Trades Ontario, the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), the Red Seal program, CSA Group, Technical Safety BC, the Alberta Safety Codes Council, or any other regulator, examining body or standards organization.
Scope and acceptance
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") form an agreement between you ("you", "User") and Serge Williams, carrying on business as QuizCodes.com ("QuizCodes", "we", "us"), of 106 rue de Callières, Longueuil, Quebec, Canada.
By accessing quizcodes.com or the learning platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the site.
Nothing on this website is a contractual offer capable of acceptance. Your order is an offer; our acceptance occurs when we send you an email confirming that your order has been accepted.
Minimum age
Registration is limited to individuals 18 years of age or older. By creating an account you represent that you meet this requirement. We may close any account that does not, without notice and without refund beyond what the law requires.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact support@quizcodes.com and we will delete it.
Independence — no affiliation, no accreditation, no guarantee
QuizCodes is a private commercial platform. It holds no accreditation, approval or recognition from any regulator, ministry, college, examining body or standards organization, in Ontario or elsewhere.
- Our courses are not HCRA-approved competency courses and do not satisfy the competency requirement under section 38 of the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017.
- Our courses are not the Building Code training delivered under agreement with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and completing them is not a prerequisite for, or a substitute for, a Building Code qualification examination.
- We do not administer, proctor, mark or influence any examination, and we do not issue any licence, certificate of qualification, BCIN, designation or accredited credential.
- Enrolment does not guarantee that you will pass any examination, obtain any licence, or achieve any employment or career outcome.
Our programs are private online training for exam preparation and professional development. They are not eligible for a T2202 tuition certificate and no official tax receipt can be issued.
All third-party names, marks and examination titles used on this site are used only to identify the examinations our material is designed to help you prepare for. They remain the property of their owners and their use does not imply any association or endorsement.
Services, access and availability
QuizCodes provides quizzes, practice examinations, explanations and study material — including content generated or assisted by artificial intelligence — for educational purposes.
Access period
Access to a purchased course is valid for a minimum of three (3) months (90 days) from the date of payment confirmation or activation, whichever is later, unless the sales page for that course states a longer period. The duration shown on the sales page at the time of purchase governs.
Activation
We aim to activate course access within 2 to 3 business hours of payment confirmation, and no later than 2 business days. Payment must clear before access is granted.
Interruptions
Service may be interrupted for scheduled maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, third-party platform failures or technical incidents. We make reasonable efforts to maintain availability and to give advance notice of scheduled maintenance, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
If an interruption lasts more than 24 consecutive hours, we extend your course access by at least the length of the interruption, at no cost. You do not need to ask; if the extension does not appear, contact support.
Normal use
The platform is licensed for ordinary, progressive personal study. Abnormal use — automated scraping, bots or scripts, bulk extraction, simultaneous sessions from multiple locations, redistribution of content — may trigger protective measures without notice.
Reference documents are not included
Our material refers to codes, standards and technical publications — including, depending on the course, the Ontario Building Code Compendium, the Canadian Electrical Code / Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and CSA, NFPA, ULC, TSSA and BNQ standards. These documents are not included with any purchase and are not reproduced on the platform.
You must obtain your own current copy from the official publisher (for example King's Printer for Ontario / Publications Ontario, CSA Group, or the relevant authority). Check the course outline for the reference documents that apply to your examination.
Nature and limits of the content, including AI-assisted content
A significant portion of our questions, distractors, explanations and scenarios is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence, under human review. All of it is provided for educational purposes only. It is not professional, technical, engineering, architectural or legal advice.
- AI-assisted content may contain inaccuracies, inconsistencies, outdated information or interpretation errors. We apply quality control and human oversight but do not warrant that all content is accurate, complete or current.
- Verify everything against official sources and the codes and standards actually in force, and with your local authority having jurisdiction.
- Some situations require a qualified professional, for example a professional engineer or architect.
- Report any error you find to support@quizcodes.com. Content may be corrected, updated or replaced without notice.
Exam preparation, not construction guidance
QuizCodes content is designed exclusively to prepare you for a knowledge examination. It is not a guide to the execution of construction, electrical, plumbing, gas or mechanical work. Any professional who relies on it as a technical reference for actual work does so entirely at their own risk. We expressly disclaim liability for any damage, injury, non-compliance, delay or loss arising from such use.
Official sources govern
The only valid references for work in Ontario are the official instruments in force, including the Building Code Act, 1992 and the Building Code made under it, the Electricity Act, 1998 and the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000 and its regulations, applicable municipal by-laws, and the applicable CSA, NFPA, ULC and other referenced standards. We are not responsible for any discrepancy between our content and those sources.
Content may be out of date
Codes, statutes and standards change frequently, and vary by jurisdiction. Our content may not reflect the most recent amendment or a local variation at the time you read it. You are solely responsible for verifying the version in force before applying anything in the field.
No professional credentials claimed
Serge Williams, operating QuizCodes.com, is not a professional engineer, architect or certified building official. Platform content is not produced under the authority of any professional regulatory body and does not constitute expert opinion.
Passing an exam is not competence to build
Passing a qualification examination validates theoretical knowledge at a point in time. It does not validate the ability to carry out compliant work, which requires judgment, experience and current official documents. Under Ontario law, responsibility for the compliance of construction work rests with the person who performs it and with the holders of the applicable licences and permits, regardless of the study material they consulted.
Accounts, licences and access sharing
Each account is strictly personal: one user, one licence. Sharing credentials, or use of one account by several people, is prohibited.
We may analyse usage signals — concurrent sessions, login patterns, anomalous behaviour — to prevent fraud and protect platform integrity. We do this on the basis of our legitimate business interest in preventing fraud, and we handle any resulting personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Where these Terms are breached, we may suspend or terminate access, restrict features, or require that the missing licences be purchased. We will give you notice and a reasonable opportunity to respond, except where immediate suspension is necessary to stop ongoing fraud or a security threat. If we terminate your access other than for cause, we refund the unused portion of your access period.
You may ask us to delete your account at any time by writing to support, subject to records we are required by law to retain.
Account security
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity that occurs under your account.
Notify us immediately at support@quizcodes.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization. We may require a password reset where there are reasonable grounds to suspect a compromise.
Rules of conduct and study integrity
You must not:
- post unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene or discriminatory content;
- impersonate another person or entity;
- attempt to access restricted areas, disrupt the platform, or circumvent security measures;
- upload malicious code, or send spam or unsolicited promotional messages;
- use bots, scripts or automated tools to access the platform;
- reproduce, record, republish, resell or otherwise share quiz questions, answers or course materials;
- have another person complete a course or quiz on your behalf.
We may moderate user communications and take action where these rules are breached.
Content you submit
You keep ownership of any comment, question or feedback you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, moderate and display it for the purpose of operating and improving the platform.
You confirm that anything you submit is yours to submit and does not infringe anyone else's rights. We may remove or decline to publish any submission.
Certificates of completion
Where a course issues a certificate, that certificate records completion of our course only.
- It is not a professional certification, a trade licence, a certificate of qualification, a BCIN, an accredited credential or a continuing-education credit.
- It does not attest to competency and does not authorize you to perform any regulated work.
- It is personal to you and may not be transferred, altered or shared.
We may revoke a certificate or platform access where these Terms have been breached.
Prices, payment and taxes
Prices are shown on the site at the time of purchase and are in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless stated otherwise. Applicable sales taxes (HST in Ontario, GST/PST or QST elsewhere) are added at checkout based on your place of supply and shown before you confirm.
Payment is processed by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. We do not store full payment card numbers.
Before you complete an order, the checkout displays our name and contact information, a fair and accurate description of the course, its price, taxes, the total amount payable, the access period, and your cancellation and refund rights under Article 14. You are given an express opportunity to accept or decline the agreement and to correct any errors. A copy of the agreement is emailed to you after purchase; if you do not receive it, contact support@quizcodes.com.
We may change prices, add courses or discontinue courses at any time. A change never affects a purchase already made. Promotional pricing is subject to the conditions stated with the offer.
Business and institutional customers
These Terms apply to individuals, businesses, employers, associations and educational institutions.
If you purchase in the course of a business rather than for personal use, you are not a consumer, and the consumer protection legislation referred to in these Terms does not apply to your purchase. The voluntary refund policy in Article 14 still does.
Bulk licensing, seat allocation and enterprise arrangements may be governed by a separate written agreement, which prevails over these Terms to the extent of any conflict.
Cancellation and refunds
Courses are digital products delivered immediately on payment confirmation.
Free evaluation section
The first module of every course is free so you can assess the interface, the content and the method before buying. We encourage you to complete it first.
Our voluntary refund window — 7 days
In addition to your statutory rights below, we offer the following commercial policy. A request made within 7 days of receiving written confirmation of your enrolment is handled as follows:
- Less than 20% of the content accessed — refund of the amount paid, less an administrative fee of $39.50 plus applicable taxes, covering transaction and processing costs.
- 20% or more of the content accessed — a refund of 50% of the amount paid (excluding taxes) may be granted.
How progress is measured: by the LearnWorlds platform, based on modules opened or completed. Opening a module counts toward the percentage accessed.
Substantial use — working through modules, attempting quizzes, downloading PDFs, significant time on the platform — may justify declining a discretionary refund under this policy.
After the 7-day window
No refund is granted under this voluntary policy after the window closes. At our discretion we may instead offer a transfer to another course (price difference payable) or an extension of access.
Your statutory rights are not affected
Nothing in this Article limits the rights Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 gives you as a consumer, including your right to cancel an internet agreement if we failed to make the disclosures the Act requires before you entered into it, or failed to give you an express opportunity to accept or decline the agreement and correct errors, or failed to deliver a copy of the agreement as required. Where a statutory cancellation right applies, we refund the full amount paid within the period the Act requires and no administrative fee is charged. If you reside outside Ontario, the mandatory consumer protection law of your province or territory applies in the same way.
How to make a request
Send a written request to support@quizcodes.com including your full name and account email, the course title and purchase date, and the reason for the request. We acknowledge within 2 business days and process any eligible refund within 15 days, to the original payment method.
Exclusions
- Free or promotional enrolments.
- Courses obtained through a third party (employer, association, reseller) — apply to that party.
- Cases of fraud or breach of these Terms.
Technical problems: if a technical fault prevents access despite reasonable cooperation with support, we will propose a fair solution — an extension or a refund as appropriate.
Intellectual property
All platform content we create — questions, explanations, structure, sequencing, visuals, audio, video, software, design elements and the question bank as a compilation — is protected under Canadian copyright law and remains ours or our licensors'. This includes content generated by AI systems operated by or for us.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the material for your own study during your access period.
Reproduction, distribution, resale, publication, framing, bulk extraction, or use to train any machine-learning system is strictly prohibited. Nothing here limits what applicable copyright law permits as fair dealing for private study, research, criticism or review.
Codes, standards, government publications and third-party marks referred to in our material remain the property of their respective publishers and owners, and are not licensed to you by us.
External links, and linking to us
The site may link to third-party websites. We do not control them and accept no responsibility for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. Following them is at your own risk.
You may link to our home page without asking, provided the link is not misleading. Framing or embedding our content, or linking directly to course material, requires our written permission.
Technical requirements and accessibility
You need a current web browser with JavaScript enabled and a stable internet connection. The platform is built for desktop, tablet and mobile, but we cannot guarantee compatibility with every device, browser or operating system.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards. If you encounter a barrier, write to support@quizcodes.com and we will work with you on an alternative means of access.
Limitation of liability
The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to a course or to the platform shall not exceed the amount you paid for the course giving rise to the claim.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive or exemplary loss or damage, including lost profits or revenue, business interruption, data loss, professional liability claims, construction defects, safety incidents, regulatory fines, or loss of reputation.
Use of the platform, and any professional application of what you learn here, is at your own risk and responsibility.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario), Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, and equivalent legislation elsewhere in Canada. Any warranty or condition that applies by law to a consumer agreement is not waived, and the cap above does not apply where the law does not permit it.
Indemnity (business users)
This Article applies only where you use the platform in the course of a business, and not to consumers.
You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your infringement of a third party's rights, or your use of platform content as a technical reference for construction, design or engineering work. This obligation survives the end of your access.
Email and SMS communications
Commercial electronic messages are sent only in accordance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing message identifies us, gives our contact information, and includes a working unsubscribe mechanism that we action within 10 business days.
SMS is used for one-to-one customer service related to a request you initiated. No bulk promotional SMS is sent without your express consent. SMS replies may be generated or assisted by artificial intelligence.
Carrier compliance: SMS consent is not shared with third parties or affiliates. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out; reply HELP for assistance.
Personal information
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We comply with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, with Quebec's Law 25 and the personal information protection legislation of Alberta and British Columbia.
We collect and process personal information to deliver the service, manage your account, process payments and send you information about your purchase. We do not sell or rent personal information.
You have rights of access, correction and deletion, subject to records we must keep by law — financial records are typically retained for seven years.
Privacy officer: Serge Williams, reachable at support@quizcodes.com.
Some service providers, including our learning platform and payment processor, may store or process data outside Canada. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Force majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disaster or epidemic, failure of a hosting or platform provider, internet or infrastructure outage, cyberattack, labour dispute, or government action. We will make reasonable efforts to restore service and to keep you informed.
Severability
If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions continue in full force, and the invalid provision is read down to the extent necessary to make it enforceable.
Non-waiver
Failure to enforce a right or provision is not a waiver of it. A waiver is valid only if expressly given in writing.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign ours in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business, provided your access and refund rights are not reduced.
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and the course description and price disclosed to you at checkout, form the entire agreement between us on their subject matter, and replace all previous versions of the terms published on this site.
This Article does not affect any representation made to you before purchase on which you relied, and does not limit remedies for misrepresentation available under consumer protection law.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for the website generally. The version published on the site at the time you access it governs your use of the site. Where a change is material, we give notice by email or platform announcement at least 30 days before it takes effect.
For a course you have already purchased, the Terms in force on your purchase date continue to govern that purchase. We will not unilaterally change the price, the access period or your refund rights for a course you have already bought. Any amendment to an existing agreement will be made only with your consent, as required by consumer protection law.
