This version replaces all previous privacy policies published on this site.

This policy explains what personal information QuizCodes.com collects, why, who it is shared with, where it is stored, and how you can access or delete it. It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions and Cookie Policy.

SEC. 01

Who we are

QuizCodes.com is operated by Serge Williams, a sole proprietor, of 106 rue de Callières, Longueuil, Quebec, Canada.

Person responsible for the protection of personal information (Privacy Officer): Serge Williams, support@quizcodes.com, 514-375-9550.

This policy covers quizcodes.com, its subdomains, and the learning platform we operate on LearnWorlds.

SEC. 02

Laws that apply

We handle personal information in accordance with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply to you, with:

  • Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25 — this applies to us because we carry on business in Quebec;
  • Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act;
  • British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act;
  • Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) for commercial electronic messages.

Where two of these give you different rights, we apply the one more favourable to you.

SEC. 03

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Name and email address (required to create an account).
  • Password, stored in hashed form — we never see it in readable form.
  • Optional profile fields you choose to fill in: phone number, mailing address, country, date of birth, company name and size, profession, website, education.
  • Anything you write to us by email, SMS or in a course comment.

  • Pages visited, referring page, time spent, modules opened or completed, quiz attempts and scores.

SEC. 05

Consent

You consent to the uses in Section 04 when you create an account and buy a course. Marketing consent is separate: the checkbox on the signup form is optional and unchecked by default, and declining it does not affect your access.

You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to support@quizcodes.com. Withdrawing consent for information we need to deliver a course you have purchased means we can no longer provide it; we will tell you before acting.

SEC. 06

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number, expiry date and security code are entered on Stripe's systems and are never transmitted to us or stored by us.

We receive only the confirmation of payment, the amount, the last four digits of the card, and the billing province or country needed for tax purposes. Stripe's own privacy policy governs its handling of your payment data.

SEC. 07

Who we share information with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the platform, and only to the extent each one needs:

ProviderPurposeWhere
LearnWorldsLearning platform, accounts, course delivery, progress trackingEuropean Union
StripePayment processingUnited States
Email delivery providerTransactional and marketing emailUnited States
QuizletFlashcard sets linked from courses, where a course uses themUnited States
Google (Google Ads tag)Measures whether a Google Search ad led to an enrolment, and supports advertising to people who visited the siteUnited States

What the Google Ads tag does and does not receive. It records a cookie identifier and the fact that a visit followed one of our ads. Google's user-provided data feature — which scans pages for email addresses, phone numbers and names and transmits them — is turned off on our account. The name, email address and password you enter on our forms are not sent to Google. Details of how the tag behaves relative to our cookie banner are in Section 02 of our Cookie Policy.

We may add further analytics or advertising providers — for example Google Analytics, a Google Tag Manager container, the Meta Pixel or the LinkedIn Insight Tag. None of those is in use at the date shown at the top of this policy. Any that we switch on is listed in our Cookie Policy, with its status, before it goes live.

Each provider is bound by contract to use the information only for the service we ask of them.

We may also disclose personal information where required by law, by court order, or to protect our legal rights.

SEC. 08

Storage and processing outside Canada

Because of the providers listed in Section 07, your personal information is stored and processed outside Quebec and outside Canada, principally in the European Union and the United States.

Before entrusting personal information to a provider outside Quebec, we assess whether it receives adequate protection, as required by Law 25, taking into account the sensitivity of the information, the purpose of its use, the protective measures in place, and the legal framework of the destination country.

While outside Canada, your information may be accessible to the courts and law-enforcement authorities of that country under its own laws. You may contact our Privacy Officer for more detail about a specific transfer.

Your rights

You may:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Delete your account and the information we are not required by law to keep;
  • Withdraw consent to marketing or to any optional use;
  • Receive a copy of the information you gave us, in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability, under Law 25);
  • De-index or stop dissemination of information about you in the circumstances the law provides.

These requests are free of charge. Write to support@quizcodes.com. We reply within 30 days. If we refuse a request in whole or in part, we tell you why and how to challenge the decision.

You can also view and edit most of your profile information yourself at any time from your account settings.

SEC. 11

Security

We use reasonable physical, technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information: encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access limited to those who need it, and reputable providers with their own security programs.

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your password confidential and tell us immediately if you think your account has been accessed without your authorization.

SEC. 12

If there is a confidentiality incident

If personal information is lost, accessed or disclosed without authorization and the incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify you and the applicable authority — the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada — as promptly as the law requires.

We keep a register of confidentiality incidents, as required by Law 25.

SEC. 13

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences, and analytics cookies that tell us how the site is used.

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings. Refusing strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.

SEC. 14

Marketing communications

We send commercial electronic messages only to people who asked for them, in accordance with CASL. Every message identifies us, gives our contact information, and contains a working unsubscribe link that we action within 10 business days.

Transactional messages — order confirmations, receipts, access notices, replies to your own support request — are not marketing and continue even if you unsubscribe.

We do not make unsolicited marketing phone calls, and we do not send marketing by fax.

SEC. 15

Minors

Registration is limited to individuals 18 years of age or older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, write to support@quizcodes.com and we will delete it.

SEC. 16

Automated processing and AI

Quiz scoring and progress tracking are automated. No decision is made about you exclusively by automated means that would produce a legal effect or otherwise significantly affect you.

Course content is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence, as described in Article 6 of our Terms. Your personal information is not used to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.

SMS replies from customer support may be generated or assisted by AI. A human reviews anything that matters.

SEC. 17

Sale or transfer of the business

If the business is sold or reorganized, personal information may be transferred to the acquirer, who would be bound by this policy for the information transferred. We will notify you in advance and give you the opportunity to have your information deleted rather than transferred.

SEC. 18

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version published here governs from the date shown at the top. Where a change is material, we give notice by email or platform announcement at least 30 days before it takes effect, and we do not apply a new purpose to information already collected without your consent.
