No. QuizCodes is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, accredited by or recognized by the Home Construction Regulatory Authority, Tarion, the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Skilled Trades Ontario, the Electrical Safety Authority, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, CSA Group, or any other regulator or examining body. Completing a course here does not satisfy a mandatory training requirement and does not confer any licence or designation.

The Ontario HCRA residential builder competencies are available today. British Columbia residential builder licensing is in preparation. Our question banks are written for the exam format each regulator actually uses.

A significant portion of the questions, distractors and explanations is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence, under human review, and we say so plainly in Article 6 of our Terms. Every item is checked against the official text of the jurisdiction it covers, and every answer carries the article it came from so you can verify it yourself.

Yes. The first module of every course is free, with full explanations and sources. No payment method is required to work through it.

The Ontario HCRA course is CA$495. Prices are in Canadian dollars and applicable sales tax is added at checkout based on your province. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

A minimum of three months — 90 days — from payment confirmation or activation, whichever is later. If a course's sales page states a longer period, that period applies.

We aim to activate it within 2 to 3 business hours of payment confirmation, and no later than 2 business days. If a service interruption lasts more than 24 consecutive hours, we extend your access by at least the length of the interruption, at no cost and without you having to ask.

Yes, within 7 days of receiving written confirmation of your enrolment. If you have accessed less than 20% of the content, we refund what you paid less an administrative fee of $39.50 plus applicable taxes. At 20% or more, a refund of 50% of the amount paid may be granted. Progress is measured by the platform, based on modules opened or completed — opening a module counts.

No refund is granted under our voluntary policy after it closes. At our discretion we may instead offer a transfer to another course, with any price difference payable, or an extension of access. And if a technical fault prevented you from using what you bought, tell us — we will propose a fair solution regardless of the date.

No. The 7-day policy is what we offer voluntarily, on top of the law. Nothing in it limits the rights Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 gives you, or the equivalent law of your own province. Where a statutory cancellation right applies, we refund the full amount and charge no administrative fee.

Yes, and you buy it from the official publisher — we do not include or reproduce it. Building codes, electrical codes and referenced standards are protected works. Our job is to train you to use your copy, and each course outline tells you which reference documents apply to your exam.

Any current browser on a desktop, tablet or phone, with JavaScript enabled and a stable connection. There is no app to install.

No. Each account is one person, one licence. We monitor for concurrent sessions and unusual login patterns, and sharing credentials can lead to suspension. If you need several seats, write to us — business and institutional arrangements are available.

Where a course issues one, it records completion of our course only. It is not a professional certification, a trade licence, a certificate of qualification, a BCIN, or a continuing-education credit, and it does not authorize you to perform any regulated work.
